South African entrepreneur KK Diaz talks about his life and business choices, and the success of his inspirational book, “The Climb”.
Q: Your book “The Climb” is quite personal, as it recounts not only your climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro, but also your journey in life from an early age. What message do you want your readers to get from your own personal journey?
KK Diaz: The thing about what people are looking for in life versus what they believe around their own potential to achieving it, is that there seems to be a misconception around what one’s background is supposed to look like, and that is not correct. The reason I decided to tell my own personal story is to show others that where you come from does not necessarily dictate how successful you may become one day.
The message is that your background does not matter. It is all about what you do with the opportunities that are presented to you. Better than that is to appreciate where you come from, work on creating value for others, and never let what you did not have limit what you could possibly have in the future.
